Marianne D. Davies, B.A., LL.B.

Marianne Davies obtained a Bachelor of Arts degree from Huron College, University of Western Ontario in 1980. She graduated from the Faculty of Law, University of Western Ontario with a Bachelor of Laws degree in 1983. She articled for the Toronto Transit Commission Legal Department and thereafter completed the Bar Admission Course in Toronto, being called to the Bar of Ontario in 1985.

She practiced law with the Toronto Transit Commission from 1985 to 1988, primarily in the area of personal injury defence. While at the T.T.C. she had occasion to appear as counsel in the Superior Court of Justice and before various administrative tribunals.

From 1988 through 1993 she practiced general civil litigation with a firm in the Durham Region. Her work during this time included appearances as counsel in the former Ontario Court (General Division), Ontario Court (Family Division), as well as the Court of Appeal of Ontario.

In December 1993 she commenced employment with Flaherty Dow Elliott & McCarthy.  She is a 1997 graduate of The Advocates' Society Mediation Course.

Marianne is past president of the Board of Directors of Personal Attendant Care, an organization which provides long-term essential care to physically disabled persons living in the Region of Durham.

Through 2007 Marianne was on the Board of Durham Region Law Association.
